News & Press Releases
On October 19th 2006, WBO held our first ever baseball clinic. The clinic was held on a cold October Saturday morning at the Tulsa Boys home. This single event lead WBO to change it's mission from simply collecting baseball and softball equipment for mission trips to the addition of our current mission of mentoring to boys and girls through the sport of baseball and softball. Tulsa's KOTV covered the event.

Gore Boys' Ranch Baseball Clinic July 26, 2008

WBO held a clinic for the boys at the Gore Boys' Ranch near Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Seventeen boys participated in the event that was held on the ranch baseball field. The boys went through hitting, outfield, infield, and pitching stations in the morning followed by hot dogs cooked out on the grill for lunch. Coach J shared his testimony during lunch with the boys, ranch staff, and WBO volunteers. A baseball game in 100+ degree heat was played in the afternoon. WBO staff and the boys divided into two teams. A great sense of excitement helped overcome the fact that it was so hot!
Volunteers Needed

GlovesWBO has several baseball gloves that need to be re-laced. Some are in need of a 5 minute repair and some are the sit down and watch a long movie repair. If you would like to take one or more of our gloves, please contact us by calling, emailing, or completing our volunteer sign up and we will see that you have all the supplies you need. This will help our overwhelming need for gloves in a big way!

WBO Clinic Trailer Donated

trailer WBO has had a need for a trailer to move all our clinic supplies and equipment from clinic to clinic. Our prayers were answered when a volunteer and dear friend stepped up and bought us a trailer. He gives all the credit to God to be able to do this for us which is a true testament to the heart this man has for Jesus Christ. So to God we give thanks meeting yet another need. Another example of how when we have a close relationship with our maker, he listens, he speaks, and he gets things done!
Dominican Republic Mission Trip

WBO participated in a mission trip to the Dominican Republic July 3 through August 12 sponsored by Firsties senior high youth group from First United Methodist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma. The trip was hosted by YWAM (Youth with a Mission). They were the best. The accommodations were great, the food was awesome, and the staff went out of their way to meet every need.
While there we visited Kidsalive International, a youth camp in Monte Plata where several baseball items were donated. We worked on restoring some walking paths and worked on a foundation. After all the hard work, we played a baseball game against boys? ages 8-11. We also visited Jackie's Orphanage. We met and played with the children while part of the team painted the walls and part of the street bright white. Jackie took us to the streets of Bolita Mundo where we helped pass out medicine, fed, and prayed for the prostitutes that were out on the streets. Jackie also took us to the dump and to a small village right by the dump called La Duqueaz where we sang and passed out toys and cloths to the children of the village. The dump is an experience I will never forget. Jackie's last time with us was showing the new home that her orphanage would be moving too within the next few months. We visited a leprosy center where we participated in a praise and worship time with the residents and then spent time asking them questions and talking to them with the help of interpreters. I heard a man crying out from one of the rooms. I went around to see my friend Irving talking to the man. He had had some kind of eye surgery and could not come out into the sunlight. The best we could figure was he had just come from cataract eye surgery. He was asking for some relief from the sunlight. I am now short one pair of Oakley's that weren't my style anyway!

Baseball Equipment headed to the front lines of Afghanistan!

Dear Jerry,
Sue and I wanted to thank you again for balls and gloves. Those gifts will be starting the 13,000 mile journey to Afghanistan very shortly. Our grandson is at Forward Operating Base (F.B.O.) Kutsbach, about 20 miles east of Kabul, "Taliban" country. The base is named after a US Army Special Forces soldier killed in the area in 2007. The base is isolated in the mountains in the Tagab Valley. Recreational facilities are rather limited: movies and the internet. So the gloves and balls will provide a means for young men to relieve the off duty boredom and tension at such a facility. I have included two photos: one of PFC Stephen Andrew Carter and the other is his platoon who will be the beneficiaries of WBO's gift. Collectively they are:
2nd Platoon
Able Company
1/506 Infantry
101st Airborne Division

As an side note, the HBO mini series 'Band of Brothers" was based on the experiences of "Easy" Company of the 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne. The same infantry regiment as Stephen's. We used to enjoy watching the mini series together. Little did each us of know that he would be a part of that unit when he elected to join the Army.
We will be requesting the picture that you ask for with the soldiers wearing the gloves and will forward it to you.
Thanks again!
Peace and blessing to you, your family and WBO
Paul and Sue
